Proteinuria means there is protein in your urine. Normally there is protein in the blood, your kidneys filter waste but keep important things like protein in your blood. When protein shows up in your urine, it may be a sign that your kidneys are damaged. 

How is it detected:

  • It can be measured using a simple urine test.

  • One of the common urine tests to measure protein in urine is called Urine Albumin Creatinine ration or UAC.

  • UAC 0 to 30 is considered normal.

  • It can be an early warning sign of kidney disease.

  • It may also be linked to high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease.
